This adorable litle girl was ome of the children we were playing with at the orphanage in Chiang Mai.
These pictures are from our visit to Baan Kingkaew orphanage in Chiang Mai. We decided to visit them and stopped by market first to pick up some supplies that they needed. The children were really adorable and playful and happy to have some new people to pick them up and carry them about. They seemed to be very well taken care of and quite happy. Many of the children at this orphanage, who range in age from six months to about four years old are their temporarily until they can go back to their families. Some families are very poor and cannot take care of their children so they give them up to better care for a while, some have parents who are college, or other difficult situations, some children are there for adoption. Both Jade and Chaya loved playing with the kids and I did have to stop them leaving with bus full of kids that they wanted to bring home with them!
Jade and Chaya getting a foot massage and a Thai massage while we wait for our bus in Huay Xia in Northern Laos to take us overnight to Luang Prabang.
Pictures from the temple and streets of Huay Xia, Laos, which is just across the border from Thailand. We crossed the Mekong River, the seventh longest river in Asia, on a longtail boat which rides very low on the water, and went through the unorganized immigration into Laos. With a few hours to pass in the tiny town we had a walk about to see what was happening in a border town.
