Giving morning alms to the monks, Luang Prabang

In the morning, usually around 5;30-6:00am, and after morning prayers, the monks walk the streets in a line to collect food and monetary donations from the people of the town. This happens all over Asia. Each of the monks has a bowl in which to collect the food and they stop by each person who puts a little rice, some bananas, some fish, etc., or even money into the bowl. Once the monks have completed their daily route they head back to the temple for more prayers and studying.

As you can see by the photos, Jade and Chaya also had a chance to give to the monks on their morning walk.
